The Con and the Conch shell

The recent video on WhatsApp of the peculiar behavior of a conch shell, that finds it way to the surface when buried under a sack of rice grains may make some believe that the conch in itself has magical powers. The idea may not be farfetched as it's used as device to please gods in some of the eastern cultures in religious rituals.

Some minds may immediately think that the shape of the conch itself may make the rice grains flow underneath the shell and since the flow must happen from the vicinity of the shell itself this would happen along it's surface and ultimately from it's top thus pushing the shell upward. In the west people would use computer graphics and probably fix camera to the conch shell to see the ground reality.

Now if all those scientific experiments leave people clueless, the chemical engineers might pitch in to investigate if the shell reacts with the rice to form any gas that fill up the shell from the bottom and makes it rise above the rice in which it is buried.

If any of the above case prove to be responsible. There might be further studies on how the shape of the conch or the reaction of rice and the shell may lead to further investigations to find how such things may be imitated and made use in practical life or to give shape to more things that may make our everyday lives easy. It may lead to manufacturing of new toys or to the design of submarines that may be driven under sand dunes.

Whatever the case may be, my interests navigate me to think of the human mind. Like this conch shell behavior, there are many other things that humans seem to discover all over the world. These are not chance discoveries that happen with an erroneous step made in the lab rather many of these could be things that are revealed when something unusual is attempted. The unusual that may be attempted may not be necessarily driven by benevolent intentions.

Being among the minds of the eastern world I would think that the property of the conch might have been the discovery of a con man who is or has connection with people living in the coastal area, but not necessarily so. Why would someone attempt to burry a conch in a bag of rice? The con might have thought of how he could make sack of rice look voluminous by adding something to it that may not add extra weight but take up space. He must have thought what when discovered may make the discoverer happy and not lead him to complain of having been given something that he may not have willed to pay. The conch being a necessity of many house hold using the same for appeasing gods may delight the receiver.

This is parallel to the world of media today where they charge customers for showing them programs and make money by showing them advertisements that they may be least interested in. They sit through it for the lack of other recreational activities that they may engage themselves or have time to discover and get busy with.
Could it be possible that our con man had a secret message to be sent for someone ordering a bag of rice? Could it also be possible that the advertisements that we are bombarded with in between our air time for television have a secret message behind them. Reportedly there's a lot of deception of the devil to promote his kingdom. Be on the watch and save yourself and your families.
