Election Commission Initiative - India

There has been a commendable duty undertaken by the Election Commission of India. Drive your car through a jungle or in the city or travel in a public transport vehicle. They will stop you and check your baggage.

This might not be pleasant to the ears of many in India. However, when you watch them doing their task you would not feel uncomfortable at all. They stop you, explain to you their purpose, check your baggage to see if you are carrying unaccountable cash, let you go if they have not found anything suspicious. They also videograph all the action from the moment they stop you and until you depart.

Cash is carried to fund various promotion activities during election. Most of this is for gaining vote from poor people for whom this is the only opportunity to make some big money or gather something in kind. The also end up voting for such opportunist parties aim at getting elected for making money and do nothing for the much needed developmental activities.

EC not only is striving to check this publicity stunt it is also making money for the government as most of such cash is black money. Anybody, wrongly caught could also claim of harassment and looting as everything is recorded on video.

Atheism Concepts Change with Geographic Location

The Con and the Conch shell

The recent video on WhatsApp of the peculiar behavior of a conch shell, that finds it way to the surface when buried under a sack of rice grains may make some believe that the conch in itself has magical powers. The idea may not be farfetched as it's used as device to please gods in some of the eastern cultures in religious rituals. Some minds may immediately think that the shape of the conch itself may make the rice grains flow underneath the shell and since the flow must happen from the vicinity of the shell itself this would happen along it's surface and ultimately from it's top thus pushing the shell upward.
