Does Matthew 19:21 Rip apart the rest of the Bible?

A man ignorant of an afterlife, does well in life and has all comforts and people he needs around him. However, at some stage he starts realizing that there's something missing in his life and he is not perfect. After, being guided by many he finally learns about Jesus. The Bible instructs him in Jesus' words to sell everything and thus create a treasure a in heaven and then to follow Him to fulfill what is missing in his life. The reference to this is in the Biblical verse of:

Matthew 19:21 Jesus told him, "If you want to be perfect, go, sell your possessions and give to the poor, and you will have treasure in heaven. Then come, follow Me."

For the man in our story it might be easy to decide to sell everything and live everyone, including his wife and children, behind and follow Jesus. However, what if a man who has been taught the bible and knows the above verse from early days in his life?

Should a man knowledgeable from his youth, never dream of building a house? If he is being asked to live everyone and follow Jesus, should he never consider getting married and have a family whom he ultimately have to leave behind, when he realizes the literal meaning of Mathew 19:21?

This verse and the likes of it in the other books of the Bible seem to pull apart everything else that the Bible offers. Man, and all living creatures when created were blessed to multiply. Considering that the Bible was not available in that era, it was okay for everyone to multiply. However, when Jesus asks the rich man to sell everything and follow Him, is he leaving behind those hearing this in a perplexing situation?

Should a married man or a women leave their family behind? The answer is a definite yes. For God united them and now it’s God Himself who is asking them to leave everything behind. It’s not man separating the married couple, it was God in the form of man who confirmed his godly identity and commanded man to leave everything behind to follow him. God assures he is the caretaker of those without one on earth. The worry we have of children dying without food is rooted in the ignorance of an afterlife in Heaven where there is eternal life of joy.

However, does Mathew 19:21 offer other challenges to the rest of the scripture as we know it? It certainly does, when you get a question in mind of what Jesus has in store for the buyer of the house of a rich man? Christians who have left everything and following Him would not have resources to buy it. They, in the first place do not have the scope of buying it as they are already following their Christ. If, however, buyers are not included in the list of the saved, how could it be that God has good plans for each one of his creation? If the rich man gets no buyers for his possessions, what is he to do with the stuff he has. Literally taken Mathew 19:21 insist upon him to sell!

If a Christian is confused here, he may go back to the original Hebrew or Aramaic or Greek texts of the scriptures. However, if this someone is born in India, they might be gifted with knowledge of multiple languages, but they may be clueless with the languages of the original scriptures. God does want men to live in fellowship and in today’s world they can reach out to scholars anywhere in the world. However, with the introduction of multiple languages at the destruction of the tower of babel, there was introduction of not just incomprehensibility among people, there was also introduction of different dialects of the same language making incomprehensibility among those speaking the same language. Thus, different scholar would give you different explanation based on their capacity to comprehend the ancient language.

All this confusion is however, put to good use by God who sees the larger picture. And sometimes when you look at it you, it is marvelous how the various interpretations of the scripture bring to fore the unbelievable intelligence of the scriptures, that we have at our disposal. All of it as Christians believe is God breathed and God inspired text. Each misinterpretation is also adequately countered with more references from other parts of the scripture, that adequately satisfies any arguing soul. However, those who skim and hold on to a verse or two, remain ignorant and gather friends who cling to revolution (or more appropriately a rotation here) that gather more ignorant, who like the dirt accumulated on an often-used fan would end up being dusted by a cleaner.

That said, it is incomprehensible how, the buyers of belongings of a rich man’s belongings would find heap treasure in heaven. What would the rich man do if all have followed Christ and he is unable to find a buyer. Jesus could have asked one to abandon everything and follow him, however, his instruction is to sell, distribute the earning among the poor and then to follow him. What if there’s no absolute poverty in one’s neighborhood and people around are happy with what they have and are not looking forward to what a rich man can give them. What is the use of distributing one’s wealth among such?  If a system is established where one can send one’s money to faraway places where there is poverty, that system has been established by people who have held on to their wealth and have built systems to help humanity. Many of them would have built such systems abiding by the principles of loving one’s neighbor and thus being of aid to them in their hour of need.

How does a man who has been instructed in the Bible to take care of the needs of his wife, leave her and his children alone, though he is also given assurance of their wellbeing by the Almighty Father? He is instructed not to make provision for them but to sell all his belongings and give it to the poor before he leaves. While attending to the needy, he must leave his own family in need of assistance? What do they do? Should they wait for another rich man to give them his fortune? What if they are left alone in deserts of sand or snow, or where there’s nobody to bring them food and water?

Mathew 6:31-33, however, seems to put to rest all the argument that one makes above. For thus is revealed in the bible in these verses:

So do not worry, saying, 'What shall we eat?' or 'What shall we drink?' or 'What shall we wear?' For the pagans run after all these things, and your heavenly Father knows that you need them. But seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well.

Following him will take away all the unrighteousness that we had in our acquisitions and the things needed would be restored in a way that is righteous for it would be a reward from the creator. Without the need for a translator to help us with Hebrew, Aramaic or Greek God reveals to us the value of our faith in Him. Rightly said Faith is indeed the most important sense in a man.
