Does Matthew 19:21 Rip apart the rest of the Bible?
A man ignorant of an afterlife, does well in life and has all comforts and people he needs around him. However, at some stage he starts realizing that there's something missing in his life and he is not perfect. After, being guided by many he finally learns about Jesus. The Bible instructs him in Jesus' words to sell everything and thus create a treasure a in heaven and then to follow Him to fulfill what is missing in his life. The reference to this is in the Biblical verse of: Matthew 19:21 Jesus told him, "If you want to be perfect, go, sell your possessions and give to the poor, and you will have treasure in heaven. Then come, follow Me." For the man in our story it might be easy to decide to sell everything and live everyone, including his wife and children, behind and follow Jesus.
