Valleys turning to Plains ain’t no reason for Worry!

Humans were ordained to replenish the earth and subdue it having a dominion on every creature living on it. They were thus provided with all resources on it to dig or go deep down inside to find and use. The ability of all creatures to adapt and live in weird environments that they may not have been their original habitats according to our understanding demonstrate their built-in power to survive millennials.   Replenish according to the dictionary is a term that means to ‘fill something that had previously been emptied. And that means there was something like us here on earth before us that had filled up the earth. These creatures were certainly not as blessed as we are. They probably lived under deep waters that was not lit by light from above. There was no firmament and probably there wasn’t air as we know it today. The Sun and the moon had not yet been created and so, there were no signs, seasons, days or years. After this all the beasts of the seas and of the wild

Windows 10 Store Apps

Windows 10 Store Apps installed on your desktop may behave like apps do on mobiles. They do not load when you have minimized the window. However, if its a non-App installation you might enjoy them running the way you have experienced on previous versions of Windows.

PC BIOS updates are now easy

If you have the executable update, just run it from your windows and it's updated when it has finished running!

Does your Windows 10 PC powerdown suddenly?

Just two days back I had this unnerving experience of feeling that my 10 month old PC was about to say a goodbye. With depleting resource, I did not have the hope that I would have enough finances to get it repaired. When I check online for warranty support the system seemed to have recorded my warranty as expired. I take my machine back to the purchase center where I had also got some additional RAM installed. I had a feeling that the RAM was broke. The system would shut down abruptly and once had a screen stuck with a noise that wrenched the heart. The RAM was still under warranty. After doing a few test on the memory the Dell showroom guys ruled out memory (RAM) issues and updated the BIOS. My system has been running smoothly ever since and hope it does like most Dell users.

You cannot hurt children

How do you make your children feel how a snap with claws feels? How do you make them realize the pain when punched on your belly or when the jump on your back when you are sleeping? As parents, you just cannot do what they do to you. However, here's what you can. Be a good parent and let them mingle freely with their siblings and friends and class mates. Every fight they make in their younger years make them realize the pain, but only one of its kind may not be enough, the need to fight again and again. During some fights, they ignore all the pain and continue to strive for declaring dominion. By the time they realize the pain from the clashes they had, the might have forgotten about the fight altogether. It’s a slow learning process and as they get more and more involved in fights and see others suffer in fights they learn the pain and start thinking on how to avoid situations. As parents, you just need to tell them sternly that it’s not good to fight and warn t

Simplicity does not change colors

Simplicity in our lives meant: Having similar plates for the young and the old, but then came the age of colors and the children had a different set, then came the marketing gimmick of pink for girls and blue for boys, soon children felt they could fight for different colors for their changing mood, and the table became noisy, and the uncles and aunts wanted to gift the perfect gift and brought in more colored items on shopping shelves, now the children had too many choices and they learnt to discard, and its not just the plates and bowls but also the food in them. now the kitchen is a junkyard and tables a graveyard with the dinners buried deep in their gadgets The way to peace is simple, just bring back the simplicity of one type of plates for all, do not have more than that in your house, uncles and aunts just visit, please do not bring gifts other than toys if you will, else the fight for colors is thus, the choices are now shifting to rainbow, that very color is t

Dell Computers - Are they the one among the best?

My Dell Computer purchased on November 2016, is about to say goodbye to my needs even before spending an year with me. The computer has several times shut down with messages that it did not start successfully. It has been constantly under attack by ants. However, the materials used even in the keyboard seems to have put up a better fight that the keypad on my HP laptop. These systems might resistant to circuit damage because of the presence insects. However, its not clear who long they would be able to resist the nastic ties of little creatures. To make sure recent Windows updates have not caused the trouble, I tried restoring the system to an available restore point. However, the system could not restore not even in the supposed safe mode of Windows 10. Later, I uninstall some of the games, I had installed from the Windows store. That seems to have solved the problem for now. I have had no trouble for about half hour now. It's not yet time to tell if Dell Hardware or Window

My Cousin's Burning at the Gas Station

Mobile phones must not be used at a gas stations but what are the options for a woman reeling under danger at a place as dangerous as that. My cousin has driven to one for filling up her two-wheeler petrol tank. She demands for a refill for Rs. 252. Now, there is a concern of consumer in India that the fuel dispensing machine are manipulated to deliver a little less in quantity for standard round figures such as for Rs 250. That explains why she opted for Rs 252. Most gas stations in our country are available for self-service only if the consumer is impatient for the absence of a service guy or if he is daring enough to handle machines that he is not supposed to (the rules being never rigid, nor the need to ever worry about the consequences of breaking a rule if at all). Now the guy that filled up my cousin's tank, meets a friend (for this is a country where any and everybody is a friend and more so when there is an opportunity to chat) and gets busy talking. Cu

Explorer versus Chrome

Search in Microsoft Explorer now seems much better that the search results from google. Nevertheless, I appreciate googles blank window of google to the default pages with random worrisome pictures that msn presents. I browse can without worry of what may be overseen from behind. I would never want people to think that I am interested on everything that is thrown on my screen. They may mistake my choices and make my world more complicated. I still love google, that lets me chose my world view rather than the MSN duty of presenting my choices on my behalf.

The Con and the Conch shell

The recent video on WhatsApp of the peculiar behavior of a conch shell, that finds it way to the surface when buried under a sack of rice grains may make some believe that the conch in itself has magical powers. The idea may not be farfetched as it's used as device to please gods in some of the eastern cultures in religious rituals. Some minds may immediately think that the shape of the conch itself may make the rice grains flow underneath the shell and since the flow must happen from the vicinity of the shell itself this would happen along it's surface and ultimately from it's top thus pushing the shell upward. In the west people would use computer graphics and probably fix camera to the conch shell to see the ground reality. Now if all those scientific experiments leave people clueless, the chemical engineers might pitch in to investigate if the shell reacts with the rice to form any gas that fill up the shell from the bottom and makes it rise above the rice in w

Ducks and Hens - Excess Farm Produce Need Not Go Waste

With the prices of pulses and cereals sky-rocketing, it might be tough on farmers to feed their Ducks and Hens. There are some varieties that feed on grass, but they do not eat that all time and look forward to the farm owner to feed them. But did you know that: 1. Papayas can chopped and boiled and your egg laying birds will love them? 2. Peels like those of Banana will be discarded, even if they are of the small varieties, the peal of which look tiny. If however if you cut them into small pieces they fight for the quantities they may grab. 3. Check out what other fruits discarded by them may be presented to them in a different manner. There always seems to be an alternate way out when you face poverty.

A Good Brand and A Good Family to the Rescue

My dad was looking forward to upgrade to a touchscreen phone when he found all around him in his age group, below and beyond, all looking smart tapping on theirs. His curiosity was not just about the taps and camera clicks on the device that he knew was meant only for calls, but also about all the talks about Facebook and Viber and the connectivity and information that they seemed to be exposing to a generation he was exposed to. I am not talking about the distant past when these apps and technology were at its infancy, but about the year 2014 when these tech lingos were common place. However, we still do have jungle dwellers and it should be no surprise if people advanced in their years are yet to get an exposure to all that is out there.   Coming back to his fantasy to learn about the new stuff, my father’s timing was perfect when I was looking forward to upgrading my phone as well. However, after been left with the experiences of ill-fated purchases of: a Blackberry wi

My Dying Mobile Battery

The world comes crushing down at crucial junctures in our lives. And sometimes you just feel that when you discover on a shoestring budget to a distant city that your mobile battery is dying out rapidly. You may be surrounded with shops selling mobiles but you do not have cash to spend (and that sometimes seems to be good for we do carried away with the power of wealth at times). But if this is a sudden discovery you may have hope to take control of the situation. You are aware of notorious spurious products if you live in the Asian sub-continent and your culprit could be one such spurious memory card in your phone. You could have changed brand on being cheated by a Toshiba memory card (After having ended up with a rather expensive TV broken down and a laptop that I had to exchange thrice and then thankfully replaced with another brand by the seller and a memory card that lasted not 3 months, I can only say that I am cheated by that brand, the name of which was alone sensational at o

My second Trip to Chennai this Year

My previous blog on ‘ Babu - The Auto Driver in Chennai ’ brought to you proof of how God turns apparently bad situations into one that turns out to be a blessing. Did God bless me on my second trip? I will be honest and not hasten to give a testimony that sounds affirmative. I enquired on the way with co-travelers on the bus and landed at where I had to. A college guy on the bus who had overheard my conversations checked with me if I would like to join him one the journey further for we were headed towards the same direction. His idea was to split the taxi/autorickshaw expenses. There was nothing suspicious with the situations or the expressions of the guy and I could probably manage him if he created a situation and so I affirmed that we would go together.   He pulled out his mobile and checked for the cheapest plan. That was when I learnt ‘OLA’ had so many features and not just the defaults that I had tried on my last trip as a first-time user with my fast discharging mobi

Boundaries that must be Demolished

A night before Amaziah could not sleep easy as he had done all these years. It was holiday and it was partly a rainy day too. He was being cranky about not being allowed to play on the computer and he demanded for new games as well. I obliged, and downloaded a few new games for him to explore. It was unusual of me to do the same, but he must also get a chance to explore what’s available on the internet. I prefer to keep my children offline most of the time but thought to relax the rules for a day. The result he spent about four hours playing in the digital world. And when it was time for bed he cried “I am seeing computer and the games if I close my eye” he screamed. For a moment it seemed like a big problem. There are sermons that are told about how the devil finds his way to little minds in ways that even adults may not understand if ignorant of that being. However, being a little kid, we could distract him and help him sleep. Friends do take time to consider children who do not g

Joy and the Boy' did to my children what 'My Dear Kuttichathan' did to me in the 80s

Joy and the Boy was engrossing and today's children have the option of demanding to see movies over and over again. But back in the 80's when my father took me for 'My Dear Kuttichathan' the first 3D movie of Indian Cinema. It was once in a life time experience for kids of middle-class family of those days. The impression left on the mind was so captivating that, it was only recently that I searched, if the movie was available on 'Youtube'. And to the utter dismay the print looked so bad that it was sure to create no impression on the mind of the young ones today. But is that really the case, to prove that you would need to put your assumptions to test. Kids today spend much of their time seeing repeat telecast of their cartoon shows along with advertisements that they really are not much bothered about. As they realize that not all Yummy advertisements sell things that are really Yummy, they start complaining about, senseless ads that break their TV shows th

Does atoms and molecules explain everything?

We know atoms and molecules make up matter. However, do we really understand what elements in matter cause substances to smell? If any particular arrangement of matter cause things to smell, what is given off from it to stimulate our olfactory senses. And if something is really given off from the matter, does that result in weight loss of the substance or does it alter the substance chemically. There seems to be not much available on google relating to these questions. Can somebody answer?

One Animal That is so Elaborately Described in the Bible

15  Behold now behemoth , which I made with thee; he eateth grass as an ox. 16  Lo now, his strength is in his loins, and his force is in the navel of his belly. 17  He moveth his tail like a cedar: the sinews of his stones are wrapped together. 18  His bones are as strong pieces of brass; his bones are like bars of iron. 19  He is the chief of the ways of God: he that made him can make his sword to approach unto him. 20  Surely the mountains bring him forth food, where all the beasts of the field play. 21  He lieth under the shady trees, in the covert of the reed, and fens. 22  The shady trees cover him with their shadow; the willows of the brook compass him about. 23  Behold, he drinketh up a river, and hasteth not: he trusteth that he can draw up Jordan into his mouth. 24  He taketh it with his eyes: his nose pierceth through snares. 41  Canst thou draw out leviathan with an hook? or his tongue with a cord which thou lettest down? 2  Canst thou put an hook into his nose

Babu - The Auto Driver in Chennai

On a tight string budget, I had an urgent trip to make to Chennai, the capital city of Tamil Nadu, one of the most crowded place that I have so often travelled. I was on a 5-day business trip as was I told by the person who had invited me to the city for a business. As I boarded the bus, I booked the return ticket, with the help of dispatch guy who had come to examine our tickets. Five days later it would be the weekend for harvest festival ‘Onam’ in Kerala. All Keralites working in Tamil Nadu would be returning home for celebration with family and friends. I was happy to be handed over a return ticket at preferred location on the bus for such an eventful weekend. Large cities these days keep changing its look and feel in a matter of couple of years and I was revisiting the city after about four years. Chennai being a metro city will have many corners that you may not have travelled even if you have stayed there for a year or two. Chennai looked more crowded even on the city ou
